At NOS Studio, we started as a small production, distribution and marketing studio with a big vision. Our founder, Jim Berney, saw a gap in the market for affordable quality content creation and set out to fill it.
We merge art, technology, and finance to give creators ownership, liquidity, and freedom — while giving investors a new asset class rooted in storytelling and innovation.

Founder’s Statement
Why Me
I’ve spent my career at the intersection of art and technology — where imagination meets execution, and innovation becomes story.
I began in computer science, earning both an undergraduate and master’s degree focused on artificial intelligence, computer graphics, and rendering algorithms. My early work as an ADA programmer for DARPA taught me the discipline of precision — the foundation for everything that came next.
For over 30 years in the film industry, I’ve led teams of artists, engineers, and visionaries through the evolution of visual effects, animation, and digital production.
I’ve helped shape the systems that power modern filmmaking — from data gathering and asset management pipelines that connect thousands of artists, to remote workflows that redefined how global creative teams collaborate.
I wrote the playbook for geo-independent labor forces long before they became industry standard — building pipelines that allowed creativity to flow freely, across borders and time zones.
As a serial entrepreneur, studio founder, and CEO, I’ve built multiple companies across live-action, VFX, and animation. I’ve guided productions from concept to screen and seen firsthand both the beauty and the inefficiency of the industry that I love.
Now, I’m building Not of the System — the culmination of everything I’ve learned. Not just a platform, but an operating system to give creative professionals the opportunity, infrastructure, and dignity they deserve.
