JIM BERNEY
FOUNDER
Jim Berney, entrepreneur and technologist, brings over 30 years of experience across film, visual effects, and production technology. He led visual effects production on some of the most visually compelling films in the industry, including The Matrix Reloaded, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, I Am Legend, and Jungle Cruise. He received an Academy Award nomination for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
Berney has led teams of more than 1,000 artists and engineers and built foundational systems that underpin modern production, including lighting tools, asset management platforms, remote workflows, and geo-independent labor infrastructure — consistently focused on removing friction so artists can operate at the highest level.
Berney has also founded and operated multiple ventures, including Pulse Evolution Corporation, an advanced technology company that built hyper-realistic digital humans and produced the live Michael Jackson hologram performance of “Slave to the Rhythm” at the Billboard Music Awards.
Earlier in his career, Berney was a programmer at DARPA, where he developed metric-driven systems to model complex environments. This experience shaped his systems-based approach to creative production — treating collaboration as something that can be structured, measured, and optimized.
NOS represents the culmination of Berney’s innovation and leadership, transforming creative production from an ad hoc coordination problem into a structured, measurable, and economically aligned system.
